Open Single Pull Cord Switch For Wall Lamp Bedside Lamp

A pull switch, sometimes referred to as a pull-cord switch, light pull, pull chain, or pull chain switch, is one that is operated by a chain or string. A pull switch is most frequently used to turn on an electric ceiling light. Pull switches are also frequently used to activate other appliances like the ceiling fan and mechanical wall fans. Pull switches can be multi-position or two-position (open or closed).

There may be two different kinds of two-position toggle switches mounted within a pull switch. (In both situations, the switch would be in the outer position, and the string would be in the upper position.) One type would already change from open to closed (or vice versa) during the initial draw of the string. The other kind only changed to closed (or open) after releasing following a full pull. When using the first kind, the weight of the string and handle may accidently turn the load on and off while it was still close to its starting position (depending on the internal spring). This may make the switch's risk of overheating more likely.
